Auditions 101

Whether you are a theatre audition pro or have never auditioned for a show before, we would like your audition experience with Peak to Peak Players to be as fun and un-intimidating as possible. Here are some helpful hints to make your audition a great one!

Nonmusical Auditions (Straight plays)

Dress appropriately for the audition. Wear something you will be comfortable moving in. Speak clearly and loud enough so the director can hear and understand you.

Musical Auditions

Dress appropriately for the audition.

Wear something you will be comfortable moving in. Have 16-32 bars of a musical theatre Song Prepared – we do not need to hear the whole song. Choose a section of a song that will show your vocal range and allow the director to hear you clearly. We will ask you to sing acapella. Do not sing a song from the show you are auditioning for. Think about the character you are auditioning for, and try and pick a song that matches the feel of that character, remember to portray character through the song! And practice, practice, practice!! Become familiar with the music from the show in case you are asked to sing a song from the show at callbacks.

If asked to prepare a monologue or read from the script, speak clearly and loud enough so the director can hear and understand you.
